Montréal Canadiens

Long before the Montreal Canadiens became one of the NHL’s most storied franchises, they were a team on the rise. In 1916, the Canadiens joined the National Hockey Association, the top hockey league in Canada. That year, they advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals and faced off against the Toronto St. Patrick’s. The Canadiens were heavy favorites, and many believed they wouldn’t have any difficulty disposing of their opponents. However, St. Patrick’s proved to be a formidable opponent and pulled off a stunning victory, winning the Stanley Cup.

The Canadiens struggled for the next several years but began to make some noise in the 1920s. That decade was very successful for the Canadiens, as they continued to make it to the playoffs and even win a few championships. They finally won their first Stanley Cup in 1976 and have been champions three more times since then. The Canadiens are one of the most storied teams in the NHL, and their legends include legends such as Maurice Richard, Henri Richard, and Rocket Richard. They continue to compete for championships and are always a favorite to win. Thanks, Montreal Canadiens, for all of your amazing hockey memories!
